Our School
School Pride
School Name Origin: James Russell Lowell (1819–1891)
James Russell Lowell was an American poet, critic, editor, and diplomat from Cambridge, Massachusetts. A leading voice of 19th-century literature, he used his writing as a platform to address issues like freedom and social justice. Lowell taught at Harvard, edited The Atlantic Monthly, and later served as U.S. Ambassador to Spain and Great Britain. His works — such as The Biglow Papers and The Vision of Sir Launfal — remain part of America’s literary heritage. Our school is proud to honor his spirit of learning, civic engagement, and commitment to principles.

School Mascot: Lions
Lions are often seen as symbols of courage, strength, and leadership. They are known as the “king of the jungle,” which makes them a natural choice to represent pride, confidence, and unity. Lions also live and thrive in groups called prides, which connects well to the idea of community, teamwork, and supporting one another—just like students and staff working together at school.
Having a lion as your school mascot is powerful because it reminds everyone to be brave when facing challenges, to show respect and responsibility as leaders, and to stand together as one school family. The lion embodies the qualities schools want to inspire in their students: being strong, respectful, responsible, and always ready to grow.
